Barbie is more than a toy.
More than an object.
To a child she is real with her own personality.
My daughters had a lot of Barbies. Their love of pretend play with their dolls helped me start to see the Barbies differently and really look at them. I was inspired to photograph them in a similar manner to how I would see them laying about the house. These women were “living” with us in our daily lives for quiet a few years. Who are they? What were they telling me about themselves?
This ongoing series is about the play between object versus woman and woman versus object.
